Budapest, 6-7 April 2019

Dramatherapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses theatre, movement, music, myths, poetry and other arts to create spaces for healing, belonging and transformation. Through the support and the guidance of the therapist the person or the group crafts a creative and safe environment, to explore themselves and how they relate with each other, expressing emotions and cultivating insights through embodiment, imagination and play. Dramatherapy is being regulated by the British Association of Dramatherapists and the Health Professions Council.

The aim of this introductory course is to offer the opportunity to the participants to explore the experiential and theoretical aspects of Dramatherapy, acquiring and developing new tools for their everyday work and life. We are going to learn in a playful and rigorous environment some of the tools, techniques and practices of this method of psychotherapy whilst taking into consideration the professional practices and approaches of the participants, their dilemmas, aspirations and needs for development regarding the communities and contexts they work with.

The workshop is addressed to professionals and students of health, social and humanistic professions, movement practitioners, actors, educators, dancers and improvisers, as well as anyone else who would be interested to acquire more knowledge and skills in Dramatherapy.

We will explore the following subjects:

  • Laban Movement
  • Movement with Touch and Sound
  • Drama
  • Myth Enactment

The workshop with last for 10 hours. A corpus of relevant bibliography and suggested activities will be given to all the participants.
