Budapest, 13-14 July 2019

Dramatherapy creates spaces for healing, belonging and transformation through the use of theatre, movement, music, myths, poetry and other arts.

The group will be facilitated to craft a creative and safe environment, to explore themselves and how they relate with each other, expressing emotions and cultivating insights through embodiment, imagination and play.

Dramatherapy is being regulated by the British Association of Dramatherapists and the Health Professions Council.

Through this course the participants will have the opportunity to explore experiential and theoretical aspects of Dramatherapy, acquiring and developing new understandings and practices for their everyday work and life.

The course can be offered as a follow up to the first introductory circle and also open to new participants.

We are going to learn in a playful and rigorous environment some of the techniques and practices of this method of psychotherapy whilst taking into consideration the professional practices and approaches of the participants, their dilemmas, aspirations and needs for development regarding the communities and contexts they work with.

The workshop is addressed to professionals and students of health, social and humanistic professions, psychologists, social workers, movement practitioners, actors, educators, dancers and improvisers, as well as anyone else who would be interested to acquire more knowledge and skills in Dramatherapy.

One of the aspects that we will focus is in particular is how we can create for ourselves and others environments of support when our work with people can be quite demanding.

We will explore the following subjects:

  • Laban Movement
  • Movement with Touch and Sound
  • Drama
  • Myth Enactment

The workshop with last for 10 hours. A certificate of attendance and a corpus of relevant bibliography and suggested activities will be given to all the participants.

It will be facilitated by Elena Boukouvala, Dramatherapist (MA), Counsellor of Children and Young People (MA), Psychologist and Dancer. Elena is faculty of the Institute for Arts Therapies and Training in Arts Therapies Epineio (Thessaloniki) and East Side Institute (New York).
