Project Description

Embodying our Stories: Introduction to Participatory Theatre

5 and 12 September 2023
The Calder Theatre
51 The Cut, SE1 8LF
London

How can theatre be a tool to embody our individual stories, to collectively create new ones and to encourage participation, inclusion and dialogue in community work?

The workshops will introduce Participatory Theatre through a playful and embodied introduction to a combination of practices:
Image Theatre, Playback Theatre, Forum Theatre, Embodied Storytelling.

Honouring the lived stories of the group and activating our collective imagination, we are going to explore together how a theatrical process can become a participatory means for personal/community transformation.

The workshops will offer resources to all those engaging communities with creative and theatre tools, or interested in doing so. It is addressed to facilitators, educators, therapists, actors, directors, community workers as well as anyone else who would be interested in experiencing Participatory Theatre.
No previous theatre experience is needed.
